- Check the water chemistry: The water chemistry must be checked two times in a week. Ensure that the pH level does not exceed 8.0 and the alkalinity must range between 80-140.

- Safety measures: If you have children at your home, ensure that you carry out proper safety measures in and around the spa. This will prevent the children from falling into the spa and also, you will not have to run behind them every now and then.
- Clean the filter cartridges: Backwash the filter cartridges when required. As soon as you find the spa water dirty, you must immediately clean the filter cartridges. Taking a dip into dirty water can be dangerous for the skin.
- Replace the cartridges: Immediately replace the filter cartridges when necessary. If you have back-washed the filter cartridges, but still the water of the spa is dirty, you must opt for spa filter replacement cartridges.
- Clean the skimmer basket: To avoid circulation problems, you must clean the skimmer basket. If the skimmer baskets gets clogged, the pump cannot circulate the water efficiently.
- Add chemicals during evening: The chemicals work in an effective manner if added after the sun goes down. If you add chemicals during the day, the UV rays reduce the effectiveness of the chemicals.
- Run the pump: The pump must be run for at least six to eight hours in a day.
- Do not backwash too often: Some people make the mistake of back-washing the filter cartridges too often. It is important to clean them on a regular basis, but that does not mean that you backwash it on every second day – this will end up damaging the filter cartridges.
- Do not ignore the skimmer basket: Many people clean the filter cartridges, but forget to clean the skimmer basket. Make sure you do not miss out on cleaning them.
- Do not add chemicals during daytime: Never add chemicals in the spa during the daytime.
